Lori G Ashley® began with a deeply personal journey—one shaped by resilience, family, confidence, and a growing appreciation for the ingredients used in everyday beauty products.
After a serious car accident left visible facial scars, founder Lori G Ashley experienced firsthand how closely appearance, self-confidence, and emotional healing can be connected. The scars were more than physical. They changed the way she looked at beauty products, skincare, and the promises made by the cosmetics industry.
What began as a search for products that felt comfortable and helped create a more even-looking complexion gradually became something much larger: a desire to understand how cosmetics were made, what ingredients they contained, and how thoughtfully developed products could help people feel more confident in their own skin.
That experience became the first chapter of Lori G Ashley®.
A Grandmother’s Influence
Another important part of the story came through Lori’s relationship with her maternal grandmother.
While spending time with her grandmother, Lori was introduced to a simpler and more traditional approach to personal care. Her grandmother valued natural ingredients, botanical oils, and the knowledge passed down through generations.
She shared lessons about selecting ingredients carefully and using nature as a source of comfort and care. These conversations sparked Lori’s curiosity about plant-based oils, minerals, herbs, and the role ingredients can play in beauty routines.
Her grandmother’s influence did not lead Lori to reject modern cosmetic science. Instead, it encouraged her to appreciate the balance between naturally inspired ingredients, careful formulation, and modern product performance.
That balance continues to influence Lori G Ashley® today.
From Personal Need to Purpose
Lori’s experience with facial scars created a very specific need: makeup that could help soften the appearance of uneven texture without feeling excessively heavy or uncomfortable.
As she researched available products, she became especially interested in mineral makeup and water-based airbrush foundation. These types of products offered the possibility of customizable coverage, lightweight application, and a natural-looking finish.
The more she learned, the more questions she asked.
