DIY recipe for a non-comedogenic face cream:

Updated: 3 days ago

Here's a recipe for a non-comedogenic face cream:

Ingredients:

  1. Grapeseed Oil: Grapeseed oil is lightweight and non-greasy, making it an excellent moisturizer for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin. It's rich in antioxidants and linoleic acid, which help nourish the skin without clogging pores.

  2. Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil closely resembles the natural oils produced by the skin, making it an ideal moisturizer. It's non-comedogenic and helps regulate sebum production, making it suitable for oily and acne-prone skin.

  3. Aloe Vera Gel: Aloe vera gel is soothing and hydrating for the skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties that help calm redness and irritation, making it perfect for sensitive skin.

  4. Witch Hazel: Witch hazel is a natural astringent that helps tighten pores and reduce excess oil production without drying out the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe acne-prone skin.

  5. Shea Butter (Optional): Shea butter is deeply moisturizing and nourishing for the skin. While it's slightly comedogenic, using a small amount can provide added hydration without causing breakouts for many people.

  6. Vitamin E Oil: Vitamin E oil is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. It also has moisturizing properties that can help keep the skin soft and supple.

  7. Tea Tree Essential Oil (Optional): Tea tree essential oil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help prevent and treat acne breakouts. However, it should be used sparingly and avoided by those with sensitive skin.

Instructions:

  1. In a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, combine 1/4 cup of grapeseed oil and 1/4 cup of jojoba oil.

  2. Heat the oils gently until they are warm but not hot.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and 2 tablespoons of witch hazel until well combined.

  4. If using shea butter, add 1 tablespoon of melted shea butter to the mixture and stir until incorporated.

  5. Add a few drops of vitamin E oil and, if desired, a few drops of tea tree essential oil for added benefits.

  6. Transfer the mixture to a clean, airtight container, such as a glass jar.

  7. Allow the cream to cool and solidify completely before using. Store it at room temperature for up to three months.

This natural, non-comedogenic face cream is lightweight, hydrating, and gentle on the skin, making it perfect for everyday use. It helps moisturize, soothe, and protect the skin without clogging pores or causing breakouts.
